Mental Health

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused disruption in almost every facet of life. The schedules and routines that help to structure the day and give space for people to grow have been entirely changed. We are both socially isolated and more together than ever! And that is to say nothing of the stress from the economic downturn, threat to physical health, and the unstopping stream of bad news from the media.

All of this adds up to new stresses and challenges for everyone. If we know that it is important to eat well and exercise to maintain our physical health and brush our teeth to maintain dental health, then it should come as no surprise that we also need to establish practices and use resources to maintain mental health. There are several organizations in Elkhart County that can help to provide tools and resources during this difficult, stressful time.

Resources

The CDC has a website for stress and coping that provides invaluable information.

Be Well Indiana is a special website dedicated to mental health resources, including a special section and hotline during the COVID-19 crisis.

Elkhart County offers the free app myStrength through Oaklawn. The app is available 24/7, has options to customize, and provides support for a wide array of topics: anxiety, depression, stress, chronic pain, substance use, parenting and more!

"The SOURCE is a
system of care is a group of providers, families and youth working together as a team to remove the barriers to mental health resources and treatments for children, teens and young adults.
