  • The Benham Ave construction project in Elkhart has begun with a formal groundbreaking ceremony. The new project will make the road more safe and accessible for biking and pedestrians, among several other upgrades. The first phase of the project closes three blocks of Benham Ave between Indiana and Wolf avenues until August.

  • A list of voting centers for Tuesday's Primary can be found here. The Elkhart County Clerk has already reported more than three times the normal number of mail-in ballots.

  • Elkhart County is now ranked as one of the more likely places in the nation for a COVID-19 outbreak to occur.  County Officials have responded and continue to encourage people to practice social distancing and other protective practices. 

  • The Benham Ave construction project in Elkhart began yesterday with a formal groundbreaking ceremony.   • While Governor Holcomb sees encouraging signs and will shift to the next phase of economic re-opening two days early, cases in Elkhart County are still appearing at significant numbers. Incident Command has issued a statement notifying residents of greatly increased testing capacity and encouraging testing.   • 400 free food boxes (50 available for walkups and 350 for cars) will be distributed from 4-6 pm on Friday, May 22nd @ North Side Middle School (300 Lawrence Street, Elkhart). Elkhart Police Department will be distributing vouchers (one per car) and food will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. 

  • Both Elkhart High Schools are planning for in-person graduation ceremonies! The ceremonies will be held in smaller 40 graduate sessions with no more than 250 attendees at each, in accordance with guidelines specified by the Elkhart County Health Department. Elkhart Memorial will hold graduation on Sunday, June 14 and Elkhart Central on Saturday, June 20. 

  • The Food Drive on Saturday, May 16 started off with a donation of $10,000 and 2,000 pounds of food from Sugar Grove Church! Local food pantries are hoping that the drive was enough to replenish their supplies as they experience increased demand.

  • Main Street construction in Goshen still ongoing this week. The road will remain closed on Monday and a few additional days.

  • On Saturday, May 16 from 9 am to 12 pm, United Way is hosting a "Food  & Fund Drive-thru" to benefit 13 food pantries in the county. Non-perishable food items will be collected at drop-off locations and donations by check or online are encouraged. Please help to share this great effort!

  • The Indiana State Department of Health confirmed another 48 cases of COVID-19 in Elkhart County yesterday. Please learn more about those practices that help protect yourself and those around you!

  • Nelson's BBQ Fundraiser this Friday, May 15, from 11 am to 6 pm in the Rite Choice Foods Parking Lot (1303 E Market St, Nappanee), while supplies last. The Nappanee Noon Kiwanis are pitching in to help the Northwood High School Yearbook program! Get some BBQ for a great cause!

  • The NorthWood High School bands will hold their spring concerts online! The concert will be this Friday at 7 p.m. You can watch here or through the Youtube channel.
