  • Elkhart County is second in the state of Indiana for per capita infections. On June 29th, the Elkhart County Health Department issued a Face Covering Mandate effective on June 30th, 2020 (y en español). There is an FAQ available to learn more (español) and a sign is available to be posted at places of business (español).  The directive outlines how face coverings can help prevent transmission and how to use them properly. Remember, preventing the spread is not just about being responsible so that businesses and events can stay open but also protecting our more vulnerable residents. Dr. Mertz continues to emphasize the following safety features in addition to wearing face masks:
    • Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. When soap is not available, use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
    • Keep social distancing of 6 feet both indoors and outdoors.
    • Stay home if you are sick!
    • Clean frequently touched surfaces often.
    • Hay información para la comunidad latina también. Y escucha a Gilberto Pérez Jr!
