UPDATES:

Health

  • As of 3/16, Hoosiers age 45 and older in Elkhart County can now register for the COVID-19 vaccine by calling 2-1-1 or 574-523-2106 or visiting vaccine.coronavirus.in.gov. People at higher risk from COVID-19 due to certain medical conditions may also register (more information can be found here).

  • The Elkhart County Health Department released a PSA on 3/17 about the new B.1.1.7 variant of the COVID-19 virus found in the county. Please click here to access.

  • 41 new cases yesterday. 32,685 Elkhart County residents have received at least the first dose of the vaccine. Great work! Continue to wear a mask, wash your hands, stay at home if you are sick, practice social distancing, and do not hesitate to get tested.

  • On March 8, 2021, the ECHD, in coordination with the county commissioners, made two important amendments. First, ECHD Health Officer Dr. Wait issued a Public Health Order that states "the number of individuals able to attend a social gathering or event without advanced Elkhart County Health Department approval will be determined by the parameters set forth in Governor Holcomb’s executive order." Second, the County Commissioners approved an amendment to Restated Ordinance No. 2020-38 which removes the fine structure previously contained as a part of the incremental enforcement measures. You can read the press release, the Public Health Order, and the Restated Ordinance.

  • Here's a great step-by-step explanation of how to register for a vaccine.

  • The Elkhart County Health Department is looking for healthcare professionals AND non-healthcare volunteers to assist with upcoming COVID-19 vaccine clinics.

  • Anti-vaxxers had an honest and frank conversation with county commissioners and EC Health Officer, Dr. Wait. It's important to continue to have these conversations and speak honestly and respectfully!
