  • Local community leaders have made it clear that the possibility of another lockdown is very real if the increase in cases in Elkhart County does not slow. Preventing the spread is not just about protecting our more vulnerable neighbors but also about being responsible so that businesses and events can stay open. Dr. Lydia Mertz, Elkhart County Health Officer, recently released a statement emphasizing the following safety features:
    • Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. When soap is not available, use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
    • Wear cloth face coverings when in a public area. Even in outdoor spaces, if you are close to other people a face covering is still encouraged.
    • Keep social distancing of 6 feet both indoors and outdoors!
    • Stay home if you are sick!
    • Clean frequently touched surfaces often!

  • A list of voting centers for Tuesday's Primary can be found here. The Elkhart County Clerk has already reported more than three times the normal number of mail-in ballots.

  • Fundraiser for the Nappanee Fire Department this Friday! Nelson's will be providing some of their best in the Rite Choice parking lot from 10:30 am until supplies run out. Stop by and support them!

  • The Small Business Restart Fund will be open for applications on June 3rd. $30 million in grants is available to small businesses to help cover costs related to the global pandemic. A list of required documentation is available.
